lining the eyes (Part 1)

Couple of days ago, I received an eye liner (MAC Liquidlast Liner - Black) sample for review. It's been sitting in my wallet until today I decided to try it out for my Friday night outing. I was full of hope with this eyeliner when I googled that it doesn't smudge easily.

New stuff (MAC Liquidlast Liner - Black)

My usual eyeliner application is MAC Blacktrack that comes in a little glass tub which I use an eyeliner brush to apply (from KATE). My brush has a short end and it's easy for me to control the amount of gel I want to use.

My usual stash

But with the MAC Liquidlast Liner's brush I find it hard to control the amount of liner I want to apply to my eyes. So I end up with a very edgy lined eyes. Not a good start I would say and I ended up falling back to my good old liner, using it to correct my mistakes. =_="

A comparison between the brushes

Anyway I gotta say that even when I first started using brush, I also went through a rough start and it takes lots of patience and practice to get things done correctly. So I won't eliminate using this liner totally but will try using it again on my next outing, hopefully the next time round I will have better luck.

My outlook for tonight but the eyeliner is probably not very obvious here since it's taken using my iPhone

Planning a Bachelorette Party

Kim Kardashian at her own Bachelorette party recently

So the bride has been identified and the date for our party has been set. I will be spearheading the planning for this party but of course not without some fellow beautiful helpers. Just sharing some of my views on planning the bachelorette party here, in case someone may need it in future.

Target party attendees
What is a party without the right people, right?

So I tried to make contact to some of the bride's besties through Facebook (thank God for social network) by dropping them a message. Luckily they contacted me and agreed with the whole idea. Can't tell you how relieve I felt when I wasn't being identified as some random strangers out of nowhere.

Setting the date
This hasn't been an easy thing. We have been shooting emails back and forth trying to agree on a date. Especially when you are planning a party, you will obviously want to invite as many people as possible and have all of them turn up. But reality is always not the case, so what I did was I try to round up a few of bride's besties and set a date where all these besties can attend and get them to help out and brainstorm some ideas. Of course, there is also a risk that you get everyone's hope high but when shit hits the fan then everyone will be disappointed.

Last but not least, other than blocking the calendar of the besties, you will also need to make sure the bride is available during that time. I think it's best to inform the bride of what you will be doing then at least that will give her a good reason to block all her appointments. I guess that's all for now, hopefully I will have more to share in the coming days.

updates, updates

I got it, i got it. So, I got this deal to review some products for the magazine, 旭茉JESSICA. Well nothing biggie, just that I get some free samples and in return I tell them what I like and dislike about the products. Quite straightforward right? *wink*

Anyway, it's been a long stressful week last week. This week I'm just going to bury myself with some series from "The Listener". Have any of you watch that yet? I think Toby looks cute in the show. I'm starting to adore his blue eyes in the show. ^_^

BIG deal news

I'm actually in a daze, hmm more like in cloud 9. Yesterday I received a piece of good news. My good friend is getting married and I'm thrilled to hear it. So much so that upon hearing the news I'm already trying to plan to see if I can organize a bachelorette party for her. I started googling for ideas, see how girls across the globe did it. So now, even the thinking about it is making me so happy and over the moon.

Congratulation gal!!!!

I have been to many weddings but a bachelorette party is definitely something I have not tried. As it's also my good friend, I have volunteered on planning the party for her. I'm really looking forward to this whole thing because I'm just excited about the whole idea that my friend is finally walking down the aisle after so many years! d(^_^)b

Jarrod & Rawlins: Hearty breakfast

"It's already late afternoon", I told my partner. He asked what do I want to do.

I replied, "Breakfast, a hearty english breakfast".

Off we went to Jarrod and Rawlins to enjoy a big breakfast under the summer heat at 4pm. Most people are already on their way making dinner but it's only the start of the day for us.

La Cigale: Auckland's French-styled Farmers' Market

One of things I did when I was there was to visit the La Cigale, it's the French Market in Auckland. To be here, you need to rise early to catch the freshest ingredients from the market. I had a field day looking at the varieties and completely immerse myself into the noisy environment. It's definitely worth a visit!

Who can miss this early shot of espresso? Here I had one of the most wonderful and delicious mochaccino!
My look of the day

Look at the variety of apples here!

There is a building where you can go in and warm yourself if you find outside to be too chilly (and I did just that!)

Bought some herbs for the Queen in my house, so that my family can also have a taste of Auckland that I brought back for them. Ain't that a clever idea?

A whole lot of activities that is actually going on revolves around this stall. Of course my photo here didn't quite justify. Actually on the right, there is a loooooooonnnnnngggggg queue of people queueing to buy coffee and on the right is another queue for paying up food. It's a buzzing stall!

Our delicious and scrumptious breakfast that morning

A wide variety of cheese to choose and there is also a wide selection of wines on the other side of the market that you can choose from to go with the cheeses.

Ah... finally ronnie's favourite, the ham slicer... Don't ask me why... ^_^

After visiting the marketplace, on the other side of the market you can actually stroll through some of the stores. I remember there is a store that sells goods which they bring in all the way from France. Then there is also a garage that sells furnitures and add ons. Just allow yourself to be amused with all the things that you discover here.

Always remember when you go on holiday, go with an open heart and open mind, don't let things at home to bog down your feelings. This way, you will definitely be able to enjoy every moment of your life. Adios.

Market Hours:

Open Saturdays 8am to 1.30pm
Open Sundays 9am to 1.30pm

miss confetti goes to kiwi land

During this trip to New Zealand, I have learn to enjoy this place from a different perspective. Coming from Asia where life is vibrant and colourful, life over here pales by comparison. Over here, it's hard to find anything open after 7pm, so let's say if you're looking for a place to hang out at night after work, your safest bet is probably the city's casino. In other words, night life here seems a little dull to me. But that is not to say I didn't enjoy myself here, just in a different way. Like I don't remember in any of my holiday in the Asian countries, I am willing to stroll down the beaches during the daytime and not diving into any shades in sight or wake up in the morning with a cup of coffee and eating pikelets while looking out to the beach, not thinking about what to do next in my head. Needless to say, Auckland as a city, the pace here is a lot slower and to enjoy this place, you need to reduce your the pace of your footstep.

A shot of the view along Tamaki Drive just outside Kelly Tarlton's. Winter came late for the Kiwis, so I still manage to catch some beautiful sunny days while here. Looking at all this little boats bobbing around, makes me want to go on a sea cruise and enjoy the breeze against my face.

We had wanted to go to the underwater world but dropped the idea in the end. Honestly just looking from the main entrance, it didn't really make me wanna go in that much. Perhaps I'm the packaging type of person where my purchasing mentality is very much drawn by the outer appearance of the product. The entrance is just a doorway that leads to a dark staircase which doesn't seem pleasant to me and I didn't bother to explore further than the doorway or maybe I might be at the wrong entrance, who knows.

New Zealand is considered the pioneer for flat white, although there are some ongoing debate on the birth origin of this beverage between Australia and NZ. Whatever it is, for coffee addict like me, I never forget my cuppa every morning and I thoroughly enjoy drinking the various coffees offered by the take away kiosk or cafe. To me, that's kind of like collecting stamp but I'm collecting the taste of coffee in my memory.

This is the little stone house next the Mecca cafe where I spent an afternoon enjoying a cup of coffee overlooking the sea and strolling along the beach. This little house offers to host events as well as it's actually a restaurant but open only when there is an occasion. I did try to imagine myself hosting a special occasion while dreaming my time there.

One of the things I enjoyed throughout my stay is the sunset view along Bucklands Beach. The ray peeking through the clouds is just too amazing and mesmerizing.
