no pain no gain

After many years of consideration and tolerating with malocclusion pictures, I decided to get my braces done. All my life, I hate going to the dentist, so much so that when I was young, I always create a scene outside the dentist clinic. The huge needles and pliers certainly did not help in making me feeling welcome or comfortable sitting on the chair with my mouth wide open waiting to be operated.

Anyway after factoring many other reasons, I decided to just get it done and over with or at least tick this thing off my bucket list. I decided to go to David Specialist Orthodontics (do) in Phileo Promenade at Jalan Ampang under my brother’s recommendation but the doctor that attended to me is Dr. Muhammad Subra. I find him very soft spoken and gentle, to some extend although it can’t alleviate the fear but it does gives a bit of comfort (haha… I feel like a baby once again, needs to be cooed all the time)

For the braces there are many options available to choose. Of course the options with more aesthetic value will cost you even more money. Initially I opted for lingua brace for my upper teeth and ceramic for my lower but the kind nurse informed me that lingua brace will take a longer time due to the fact that with each fine-tuning done to the braces, it needs to be send oversea and there is no facilities available locally. Also lingua takes a longer time to do adjustment during each appointment. Invisalign is out of option for me since my teeth is badly aligned. In the end I’m left with 2 options, metal and ceramic.

Since I’m also a working adult and earning my own dough, for the bracket, I opted for ceramic braces. The cost is about MYR 8,000. I paid MYR4, 000 on the first day and subsequent payments will be done through installments (MYR 160 / month).

1st day
After installing brackets into my upper row of teeth, funny, I don’t feel any pain as told but I do feel a bit of tension between my teeth. Feels like something tugging it, which is true, right now my teeth is bonded together with a soft wire and can’t bite together, the alignment has changed so the bite doesn’t fit like the way it used to.

My first meal after my dental appointment was dinner at a Chinese restaurant, needless to say as much as the food looks appetizing but I don’t seem interested to eat anything tabled. Ron was very attentive to me, even helped me to cut my meatballs to smaller pieces so that I can eat and will check with me each time he put food to my plate.

One thing I start to realize after today, you will learn to be more selective with food and adopt a healthier way of eating. You start to be more conscious with the texture of the food and also whether it’s good or bad for your teeth. If in the past you chow down your food in big pieces, now you will have to force yourself to chew your food in smaller pieces and more ladylike in order not to create too much pain to yourself, unless you have a higher pain threshold, unlike me.

2nd day
After waking up from my sleep, I didn’t feel any instant pain. My brother warned me that the pain will start to kick in the next day. Thank God it didn’t but I realized as soon as I start moving my jaw or try to get a bite, I start to feel some pain. So I end up having my stay teeth apart throughout the day.

Lunch was Ipoh Hor Fun at PapaRich. I only ate the flat noodle and nothing else. Ron happily took away the meat from me. Chewing the bean sprout proves to be a chore to me. I’m starting to feel the pain my brother told me. Ordered my favourite Mexico bun but took me more than an hour to finish one and not without pain. I normally can eat 2 at a go in less than 10 minutes, today after eating the first bun, I gave up. Not worth the pain.

Come to think of it, I was rather naïve to even ask the dr yesterday why I don’t feel any pain and whether the straightening process has started already. Even though the doctor told me it has started but I still doubt and thought that maybe the doctor didn’t understand my question. Starting to question myself whether it’s all worth the pain or not?

Hada Labo, are you game for it?

Woah woah... lately I think hada labo is taking asian by storm. I have been reading very good reviews off the Internet and have seen people buying it in store during my habitual spying in cosmetic store. Yea I have this habit to look at what people add to their maintenance ritual. It's like when choosing to eat at restaurants most people have the tendency to swing their preference to eateries where there are a long queue, often exuding impression that long queue means good food. I guess when it comes to purchasing, it's the same theory.

A step by step guide on using their complete range, surely there is something for everyone here!

In fact the product that I'm most interested is their Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Lotion. They boasted to have a bottle of lotion sold in Japan for every 4 seconds. With so many people vouching for them surely this can't go wrong, right?

But I do wonder if this works for me, I have been a user of SKII for a long time and I have been doing ok with this it but price is definitely one reason that attracts me to give it a try. After all if both products produce the same result, why spend so much?

me ♥ confetti: Planning a Bachelorette Party (Part 2)

On the work front, I'm having so much difficulties to meet with the challenging deadlines. Needless to say, my weekends are all gone just to meet with demanding targets. This has obviously impact my planning for the bachelorette party which by the way has turn into a bachelorette getaway (*jump jump*). Thankfully one of the girls were really helpful with all the bookings so it made the whole planning much easier even with the mounting works (Thanks Shev, you're such a darling to have!).

We are booking ourselves into a Spa resort, not just any resort but a luxury resort. We will have our own private infinity pool soak ourselves silly and tan until we get burnt (ok, that is exaggerating no sane girl will want to do that). I shall not reveal too much details of our trip for security sake but I am really glad that we can now start planning for more detail stuff for our getaway.

Right now ideas are running wild, from themed party to getting a male stripper. I must say I am quite enticed with the whole stripper idea but I fear running into one that looks like this instead of someone like below:

Really, I think it will be a huge a** joke to me if our night end up with a stripper that looks like the guy from stevenlim. I remember during Fann Wong's bachelorette party, they hired him as stripper or something, OMG it's such a turn off and so not cool *puke puke*

Haha then I also have this idea of hiring a limo and indulge in some bubbly champagne, something like the one in the picture. The idea sounds nice also right?
